THE STORY

We have to preserve both music and architecture for future generations, because through both of these art forms, we are connected to optimism and hope - we see the best in humanity... So I'm hoping that this celebration of Gaudí's work, seen through the lens of our time, will reconnect us.

History

In June of 2026, Barcelona will celebrate the completion of the Tower of Jesus Christ, the tallest and boldest of the eighteen spires rising from the iconic Basilica Sagrada Familia, and will commemorate the centennial of the passing of its visionary creator, Antoni Gaudí. Gaudí’s magnus opus is at once uniquely Catalan and boldly universal. His divinely inspired blend of architecture with nature has become an enduring hallmark of Catalan art and culture and attracts nearly five million annual visitors from around the world.

On Gaudí’s centennial, Maestro Marin Alsop will conduct The Philharmonia Orchestra of London and three choirs from Barcelona’s renowned Orfeó Català, who will perform the world premiere by Barcelona native and composer Olivia Perez-Collellmir, with words by Catalan poet Anna Gual.

Seven Dreams of Gaudí fulfills a dream that Gaudí was unable to achieve during his lifetime. He designed the towers of Sagrada Familia to be filled with bells for all who came to worship within its walls. A century later, Gaudí’s bells are being cast, and will be performed in the finale of Seven Dreams of Gaudí, bringing Gaudí’s acoustic vision to life.
